Port D’Alcudia

Port d´Alcúdia, in the north-east of Mallorca, is one of the main tourist towns in the island. It has got a waste choice of hotels and apartments that can lodge thousands of visitors. It is sited just at the north of the long -8,5 km.- beach in Alcúdia´s Bay, one of its main attractive spots. From the beach southwards, there are some canals and ponds surrounded by hotels, apartments and villas -many of them used summer residences-, included in the humid area called Albufera Gran de Mallorca, now being Albufera Natural Park: a broad area preserved in its natural condition.

In Port d´Alcúdia not only an excelent accommodation choice can be found, but also a wide range of shops, restaurants, a water park bars and discos which provide a lively nightlife all summer, every day of the week. This makes it an excelent choice for all who want to enjoy nightlife; for families with children, as in most hotels there is an animation staff; and also for those who just like to spend the holiday enjoying fine weather in a mediterranean setting.

Sport activities in Port d´Alcúdia are outdoor: treks, cycling, tennis, horse-riding, football, beach volley, (scuba) diving, windsurfing, kite surfing, water-skiing, sailing, golf, etc.

In Port d´Alcúdia there has been a seaport since Medival Ages, now it is the second most important harbour in Mallorca as far goods trade is concerned – mainly energetic products- due to its proximity to Es Murterar power station, with regular connexions to Barcelona and Ciutadella de Menorca by ferry.

There is also a pleasure harbour, from where boats that run trips along the coast depart, with more than a thousand moorings for boats and yatches, and a broad area for pedestrians with a large amount of bars, cafeterias and restaurants.

Port d´Alcúdia beach is about 2000 m. long and 50 m. wide, with a white pleasant sand. Hotels and other buildings around are not too high. Moreover, there are many pine trees and some palm trees by the end of the beach. All these keep the touristic centre out of sight, making it much popular and lively in summer.
