The small country town of Sant Joan is in the north-west of the island, an area that is dotted with small hills and as remote as it is possible to get on the island from the major tourist resorts. Most of the rural tourism accommodation on Ibiza is concentrated here.
Sant Joan provides an opportunity to appreciate the local traditional architecture of Ibiza, which is characterised by the simplicity of its cubic forms and the white façades. The church is the most important building, as is true of the other towns in the interior.
