Santa Gertrudis is a small hamlet in deepest rural Ibiza and lies at the centre of the island in the municipality of Santa Eulària. It has an 18th-century church and four streets that are home not only to a fascinating shop but also to a number of bars that are extremely popular among the residents of Ibiza and which are a regular meeting point for people from across the whole island. One of the most famous is the Costa bar, with its walls covered with paintings done by artists who lived on Ibiza during the years of the hippy movement.
