Palmanova is a tourist spot on the west coast of Mallorca within Calvià´s municipal area in Palma´s bay. It is next to Magaluf. The fact that Palma Nova and Magaluf are joined together favours the access to a wide variety of facilities and touristic attractions to all those who enjoy their holiday in Palma Nova. There are car, bike and motorbike rents, sea trips, water parks, etc. There are also many places to eat, with all kind of restaurants and bars. It is also provided with a pleasure harbour.
The beach and the pedestrian avenue along it are the city spot and the main attraction in Palma Nova, where there are most hotels, appartments and villas. It is a good place to spend a peaceful vacation with the family, very close from one of the most lively spots in Mallorca.
The development began in the land of the old farm Ses Planes in 1935, when the name Palma Nova replaced the original Son Caliu. The process was disrupted by the Spanish Civil War and the subsequent isolation of the country until the 1960´s, when the urban development went on, though with a different urban planning from the one of a garden city that was formerly projected. The first hotels were Hotel Playa (1957) and Hotel Morocco (1959).
Palmanova Beach is 500 m long by 60 m wide, with white sands and a sandy seabed. It is located in the residential area of Palma Nova.

Es Carregador is a beach which is 300 m long and 60 m wide and which is located in the tourist resort formed by Magaluf and Palma Nova. This beach is not as developed as Magaluf, and there are many pine trees here. To get here, walk along Avenue Platja in Palma Nova, which leads straight to the beach.
