Son Bou is one of the most extensive resorts on Minorca. It is situated some 20 kilometres from the airport and lies in the municipality of Alaior in the south of the island. It has two shopping centres that between them offer a wide range of shops, bars and restaurants that meet tourists’ needs and guarantee an enjoyable holiday by the sea.
Son Bou Beach is the longest on the island and stretches for 2.5 kilometres. Even though the western part has been developed, it still has its dune system and wetlands, where rice used to be grown. The far western end of the beach, near Atàlix Point, is popular with naturists. At the other end of the beach are the remains of the early Christian basilica of Son Bou, which dates from between the 5th and 6th centuries and is of great historical value.
