Cala Morell, which lies in the municipality of Ciutadella on the north coast of Minorca, is a small resort consisting of tourist apartments and houses and the essential amenities required for a peaceful, relaxing holiday by the sea in the island’s natural surroundings.
The beach at Cala Morell is small, measuring some 80 metres long and 50 metres wide. It is bordered by terraces for bathers and cliffs with houses perched on top.
In Cala Morell there is a Talayotic necropolis made up of 14 man–made caves chipped out of the rock of a small gorge. It functioned as a cemetery from pre-talayótic times to the II century A.D. Some of the caves have interesting architectural features, with a votive significance, such as, columns and pillars, unevenness of floor level and even facades with doors decorated with mouldings and small courtyards in front of them.
