The first recorded landing of the Moors on Mallorca happened in 707. It seems that Abd Allah managed to get the powers in Mallorca to accept a peace treaty. This treaty meant that, in return for a payment to the coffers of the Caliphate, Mallorca was allowed to continue with its socio-economic and political structures, as well as its religious beliefs. Two centuries later, in 903, Mallorca was fully integrated into the Moorish Omeya dynasty, going from depending on the Caliphate of Córdoba to al-Andalus, with a conversion of the island´s population to Arab ways. A period of growth followed, with Medina Mayurka (now Palma) becoming an important point of cultural diffusion within the Muslim world during this time.
